  • Implants

A missing tooth need not mean the end of your smile. Modern dentistry allows replacement of missing teeth with dental implants. These are artificial teeth placed in your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge.

Dr Z Solomon is one of the few implant dentists uniquely qualified to perform both the surgical and restorative phases of implant dentistry. Most people prefer a non-removable dental implant, as opposed to a removable plastic denture. The implants are inserted into your jawbone, under your gums. The end result is a fine ceramic implant crown, which looks and feels right at home alongside your natural teeth.

  • Crowns

A crown is a tooth-shaped cover placed over a tooth that is discoloured, badly damaged or decayed. Many people call it a cap.

Crowns may be placed for several reasons. Usually the tooth has been broken or severely damaged by decay. As a result, a filling can’t replace enough of the tooth or make the tooth strong enough.

A crown may hold together parts of a cracked tooth. It can be also used to hold a bridge in place. Crowns can be used to improve appearance as well. They may be placed to cover misshapen or badly discoloured teeth.

Most modern crowns are made of ceramic or zirconium and are metal free giving a result that looks and feels like real teeth. Crowns usually last at least seven years but in many cases they last much longer, up to 40 years or so.

In many cases the crown is fine, but the tooth underneath it has developed a cavity. Therefore, maintaining good oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing, will help your crown last longer.
  • Veneers

Dental veneers are extremely thin, translucent, tooth-coloured shells that are bonded to the surfaces of teeth to change the appearance and improve esthetics.

    They can correct

    • Gapped teeth/ diastemas
    • Broken or chipped teeth
    • Stained teeth
    • Discoloured teeth caused by cracks or improperly endodontic treatment
    • Pitted teeth due to dental fluorosis
    • Uneven/ irregularly shaped teeth

    Advantages of veneers

    • Only two-three visits for permanent result
    • Long lasting life span of seven years or longer
    • Less invasive than crown
    • Relatively painless
  • Fillings (Ceramic and Composites)

So we tell you that you have a cavity and need a filling. What does that mean and what is a filling? When your tooth has decay present, the decay needs to be removed by us. Once the decay is gone, we will need to place a filling where the decay used to be. A filling is the most conservative way of restoring the tooth.

Silver fillings are rarely used due to the controversial use of mercury in the composition that has been associated with toxity.
  • Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening procedures are safe, quick and effective. If your teeth are discoloured, yellowed, blackened or simply not as white as you prefer them we can help you. We offer two different systems to patients namely Dash, a scientifically advanced teeth whitening procedure that is applied at our rooms by one of our professionals.

The tray whitening system is less expensive, although an equally effective alternative. An impression is taken and a special fit tray is manufactured for you, which you fill with a special bleaching gel and wear during the day or night in the comfort of your own home. Results are also very good but the treatment time is about seven to ten days.
  • Root Canal Treatment

A root canal is a layman’s terms for something dentist and physicians refer to as endodontic therapy. In which the living pulp of a tooth and the tooth roots are removed. Root canals are performed when a tooth has become so decayed or infected that it cannot be saved simply with a normal cavity filling operation.

There is no obvious ways for you, at home, to determine whether or not you need a root canal procedure. Of course there are signs that the tooth is in bad shape such as a large or obvious cavity or a significant amount of tooth pain.

We can examine the tooth closely and tell you whether or not you need a root canal. We highly recommend that you make an appointment with us dentist as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more likely that the tooth damage or tooth infection you have will worsen, which will only make the need for a root canal more likely.

At our rooms, we use the latest technique in root canal treatment to allow the treatment to be as quick and painless as possible.

  • Dental Hygiene

Good dental hygiene results in a mouth that looks and smells healthy. Thus meaning that your teeth are clean and free of debris, gums are pink and do not hurt or bleed when you brush or floss them. If you experience pain or bleeding while brushing or flossing, or you are experiencing persistent bad breath you should consult with us.

We can help you learn good dental hygiene techniques and can help point out areas of your mouth that may require extra attention during brushing and flossing. At our rooms we will assist you in identifying causes of bad breath and bleeding gums, and provide treatment or a solution in order to get your mouth looking and feeling healthy.

Healthy teeth will not only enable you to feel and look good but to eat properly as well. We recommend six month visits to the dentist and dental hygienist starting from the age of two. These visits are particularly important during pregnancy and while wearing braces as this makes your mouth vulnerable to bleeding gums.
